Ever watch your favorite team play and not be able to stand them? This is how I feel every time I watch the Cardinals. I'll say it, I hate Tony LaRussa, I hated Edmonds and Rolen, I couldn't stand Ray Lankford or J.D. Drew when he was here. Matt Morris drove me insane, and Chris Duncan makes me want to walk on the field and slap him so hard his eye bleeds. I wish the Cards would go back to the good days of Whitey Ball. Slap out base hits, steal some bases, pull a squeeze play with 2 strikes, and play stellar defense. We were last in baseball last year in stolen bases and attempts. Our fielding percentage was less that stellar, and our manager didn't seem to care. This style works for some if you can make up for it with pitching and power, but the Cards can't. We have a perfect managerial candidate coaching 3rd base for us. Hey Dewitt, get rid of Tony, have Jose Oquendo manage, and bring in Ozzie Smith to take his place. Go back to the days when St. Louis baseball had a distinct style.
Also, does TLR get along with anyone. He told Ozzie Smith he wasn't welcome in the stadium as long as he was manager, he drove away fan favorite Scott Rolen, and now he is "feuding" with top prospect Colby Rasmus. Can't he grow up, he's 63 now, show some maturity. I understand that Rolen isn't exactly the biggest people person, and Rasmus is only 20 and the next big thing, but seriously, I've got friends in high school that act more mature than him. If I hadn't been born a Cardinals fan, I would hate the Cardinals, and probably like the Cubs. But I was born a St. Louis boy, and I shall always love my St. Louis teams.

Hate the Team You Love?It is definitely painful to be a fan. As a fan and not a professional, I dont have the answers. I just want to watch a team with the potential to be the greatest show on the diamond not give games away anymore....

Hate the Team You Love? Was there ever any consequences to his DUI last year?
I think he got community service or something, the team didn't punish him though. |

Hate the Team You Love? His wife told him if he didn't retire at 65 she would file for divorce, he's 63, only 2 more years he can manage.Too bad she didn't tell him that she'd divorce him if he didn't retire when he was 60. I'm not a Cardinals fan and I don't like TLR either. I think he's a pompous a$$ and I'm glad he's the manager of your team and not mine. Was there ever any consequences to his DUI last year? I never heard anything afterward.

Hate the Team You Love?I do support the Cardinals, I go to a few games every year, I watch or listen to nearly every game, and live and die with every pitch. Fans are allowed to have their own opinion, not just mindlessly follow. And the reason we are a constant threat is because of Walt Jockety and his scouts, they found Yadi, they scouted Pujols, they got Carp, they got Mulder. Tony didn't sign anyone, sure he had influence, but they pulled the trigger, and ownership paid for all of it. Duncan gets all pitching stuff worked out. Tony does have a lot of responsibility, but pretty much any manager could win games with that supporting cast.

Hate the Team You Love?WOW! I wish we could go back to the days where fans actually backed their team no matter what instead of downtalking most everything about them. Why dont you point out how much success Larussa has brought to St. Louis. Winning a world series title in 2006, third most winningest manager of all time, most winningest manager in Cardinal history, and one of the most respected managers in baseball. You can knock him all you want but that fact is he is the manager like it or not. Nobody is perfect and the fact that he doesnt get along with everyone isnt necessarily his fault, a lot of it could be the attitude of those players. Granted the style of play has changed, I wouldnt really complain becuase it seems to be working. The Cards make it to the playoffs every year practically except for last year becuase of an injury plagued team and we were still close in the running. Bottom line is the Cardinals are a constant threat becuase of Larussa no matter what the team, so you can talk down on him all you want but he is still one of the best managers of all time.

Hate the Team You Love?I never understood the 2 year contract anyway.
His wife told him if he didn't retire at 65 she would file for divorce, he's 63, only 2 more years he can manage. |

Hate the Team You Love?John Mozelak(prolly spelt wrong) looks like he could do some good, and Tony's wife told him she would file for divorce if he didn't retire when he was 65, so only 2 more seasons of him. Hopefully we won't sign another vet loning manager like Tony then.
